Raise awareness among your family and friends, so they can support too. We can get through this crisis, but we can only do it together.
Support rural African families during the COVID-19 crisis
Led by Ignite Power and operating in collaboration with leading solar solution providers, Keeping The Lights On Initiative is supporting families throughout rural Africa, striving to keep basic needs intact during these challenging days.
In recent years, solar solutions have become common throughout Africa, mainly in rural, indigent areas that cannot be reached with the national grid. Many of the families in these areas are now in quarantine, missing work, and unable to afford to pay their electricity bills that are already very low and subsidized, living millions in the dark.
Being in the dark means no light to read and learn, no ability to charge cellular devices and keep in touch with loved ones, and no radio to stay updated with news and government guidelines.
JOIN OUR SUPPORTERS
Join our global supporters and keep the light on for families across Africa!
Your support will subsidize the electricity bills of families living in remote, rural communities in quarantine, with no ability to work, and no money to pay their electricity bills.
Every $1.5 will pay the electricity bill of one family, keeping the light on in one home for a week. Let’s do the math:
With $3, the price of iced coffee at your local coffee shop, 2 families can have electricity for one week.
$6, the price of a burger with fries, will provide 4 families with light in their homes.
$12 - and you’ll provide 8 families with a whole week of home electricity.
$30 - and that number will be 20.
You get the gist: with a small amount of money, you can have a HUGE impact on people’s lives. Together, we can keep the light on for everyone, everywhere.
